Cryptography Management
LOW MODERATE ✓ HIGHRequirements NIST SOURCE
Ensure that cryptographic mechanisms used to provide the following controls are under configuration management: [controls].
Discussion (NIST Supplemental Guidance)
The controls referenced in the control enhancement refer to security and privacy controls from the control catalog. Regardless of the cryptographic mechanisms employed, processes and procedures are in place to manage those mechanisms. For example, if system components use certificates for identification and authentication, a process is implemented to address the expiration of those certificates.

Assessment
Assessment Objectives
- controls provided by cryptographic mechanisms that are to be under configuration management are defined;
- cryptographic mechanisms used to provide <CM-03(06)_ODP controls> are under configuration management.

STIGs & CCIs
No STIG checks or CCI mappings are currently loaded for CM-3(6). This section is architected to display, per product: STIG ID, Finding ID, Severity, Title, Description, Check, Fix, CCI, and NIST control mapping — but nothing is populated here until a real DISA STIG/CCI dataset is ingested.
